"Nutritionist"
is not a protected title.

"Dietitian" and "physiotherapist" are protected by law and need HCPC registration. "Nutritionist" and "personal trainer" are not protected at all — anyone may use them. You should know which you are hiring, so we tell you exactly what we hold.

What we do

Four services, inside a stated scope

Screening before training, referral where something looks clinical, and no title we do not hold.

How it works

How we work

Screen before training, refer anything clinical to a doctor or an HCPC-registered professional, progress from what a body currently tolerates, and promise no number on a scale.

Free first consultation

What you want, and whether we are the right people for it.

Screening

A questionnaire and assessment, with red flags looked for deliberately.

Programme or referral

We start, adapt, or send you to a clinician first.

Reviewed as we go

Progressed on evidence, not on a template.

How we work

A practice that tells you what it is not

Her Fit Self Ltd is a private limited company registered in England and Wales under company number 15152516, based in Brockley in south-east London and working since September 2023. The work is health and fitness support for women: screening and assessment, supervised training, pregnancy and postnatal work, and everyday nutrition support.

Two statements matter more than any list of services. First, we do not diagnose or treat anything. Screening happens before training and it exists to find the things that belong with a doctor rather than in a programme, and where it finds them we refer and wait for clearance. Second, we use no protected title we do not hold. "Dietitian" and "physiotherapist" are protected in law and restricted to HCPC-registered professionals. "Nutritionist" and "personal trainer" are not protected at all, and anyone may use them regardless of training. Knowing which of those you are hiring is genuinely useful, so we state what we hold. We also make no claim about weight loss, because the advertising rules require claims to be substantiated and honest practitioners cannot substantiate a number.

Frequently asked

The questions we get most

Why make a point of saying "nutritionist" is not protected?

Because people reasonably assume it is. "Dietitian" and "physiotherapist" are protected titles restricted to HCPC-registered professionals, and using them without registration is an offence. "Nutritionist" and "personal trainer" carry no such protection, so the title alone tells you nothing about someone's training. We would rather you knew that and asked us what we actually hold.

Can you help me lose two stone by summer?

We can help you train and eat better, and we will not put a figure or a date on it. Advertising rules require health and weight-loss claims to be substantiable, and nobody can honestly guarantee a rate of loss for a particular person. Anyone promising you a number is either guessing or breaking those rules.

I get chest pain when I push hard. Can we work around it?

No, and please do not let anyone try. Chest pain on exertion is one of the things screening exists to catch, and it goes to a GP before any programme. The same applies to unexplained breathlessness, dizziness, blackouts and unexplained weight loss. We will pick this up at screening and refer you.

I am six weeks postnatal. Can I start?

After your postnatal check and with clearance, yes, and we will build it gradually. If there are signs of pelvic floor dysfunction or abdominal separation that need assessing, that is a referral to a pelvic health physiotherapist — a clinical assessment and a protected title, so properly theirs rather than ours.

Do you sell supplements or meal plans?

No supplements, and nutrition support is general and food-based rather than a prescribed protocol. Dietetic treatment of a diagnosed condition is clinical work for a registered dietitian. We also only make nutrition and health claims that are authorised, which rules out most of what the supplement industry says.

Will you train me if I have a condition?

Often yes, with clearance and adapted appropriately, and sometimes alongside a clinician who is managing it. What we will not do is treat the condition or train as though it were not there. Tell us at screening rather than part-way through; it changes what is sensible rather than ruling things out.
